Best Time to Go to Zanzibar

Zanzibar is a year-round tropical paradise, but timing your visit can elevate your experience. Whether you crave sunshine and beach bliss or serene moments with fewer tourists, Zanzibar offers a season for every traveler.

The island enjoys two dry seasonsβ€”from June to October and December to Februaryβ€”when the skies are clear, humidity is low, and the days are sun-drenched. These are the perfect months to pair a wildlife safari on the mainland with tranquil coastal relaxation.

Rain arrives in two waves: short showers in November and early December, and a longer wet season from March to May. Though less ideal for sunbathing, this period offers lush green landscapes, peaceful beaches, and lower travel costs.

For underwater explorers, January and February offer excellent diving conditions. Look out for migrating Humpback whales in August and September, and spot Whale Sharks and Green Turtles between September and February.
